Backpackers stranded without funds due to customer data management software assuming they are fraudsters- Oct 3 2008, 11:01 AM Backpackers travelling abroad are finding themselves stranded without access to their funds because their credit cards have been cancelled by bank customer data management software assuming fraud, according to world-first.co.uk.A travel expert for the website explained that credit card companies are increasingly alert to the problems of credit card scams committed abroad and have set up sophisticated identity verification data strategy systems to combat credit card abuse. The founder of gapyear.com, Tom Griffiths, said: "This is because the computer sees a card that hasn't been used much in the UK suddenly being nailed in Ecuador or Fiji.
